(1) Floyd County 6.30.2020

First and foremost was digging for fossils at the Fossil and Prairie Park Preserve in Rockford! So much fun and such a beautiful, surreal landscape. We weren’t able to go inside the conservation building due to COVID, but it’s a newer building and looked nice so it might be worth coming back to, to check out!

After we bagged enough fossils (because you can take them with you!), we headed to the county seat, Charles City for some yummy food at The Pub on the Cedar and walked along the Cedar River. You can swim and tube the river, and there is “white water rafting” right here in Iowa 😊 We opted out today! There’s also a nice county museum, the Floyd County Museum, but it was also closed because of COVID (lots to go back to).  Although we didn’t go rafting, we did do some fishing and took a walk along the Cedar River.

Don’t forget to drive by the Frank Lloyd Wright House!

On our way back home, we did find the coolest glacial rock right in the middle of the street in Nora Springs.
